SF Station: Event Calendar Mobile App
My Role
UX Designer
Context
SF Station’s popular iPhone app (download) didn’t offer additional content beyond events and it required the user to swipe left to view one event at a time. It also wasn’t responsive to newer phone sizes so the design needed to be updated to fit widths for iPhone 7, 8 and X.
Solution
I introduced a UX improvement that allowed the user to scroll through many more events in less time instead of swiping one by one. The app was updated to be full frame to make a seamless experience regardless of what iPhone model you were using. The updated navigation that included the addition of Free Events, Photos, Local News and Subscribe allowed the user to see more information that was available to them including editorial coverage, photography and weekly email newsletters. This mobile app update achieved an increase in pageviews to more content types as well as increased visibility to paying advertisers and other marketing initiatives essential to generating revenue.
